My life lesson for the universe at large:

It is truly astonishing what can be accomplished simply by asking politely.

I just got permission to use an absolutely perfect image in our game. All I did was ask and promise to provide proper attribution on the credits page. Sweet!

UPDATE: Holy crap! And sometimes, the answer isn't just "yes", it's "yes, here's the high-res original, along with 10 more"!

Yeah. I was worried that he'd want a licensing fee or something (which we have no funding for), but I guess recognition is enough. Happily. =)
