First day of our big departmental retreat. We're trying to come with good, integrative, multidisciplinary group research projects, and I actually have about five ideas that I think are potentially really, really cool. Today was just preliminaries; we'll see if anyone else is interested in them tomorrow.

Long day, but we had dinner at the Chautauqua dining hall afterwards, and it was very good. I had a beef tenderloin that made my mouth very, very happy.

I have to be there by 8 am tomorrow. Ugh. At least I'm being clever enough to realize that I'll need to feed myself some protein at home before I go, because if I try to get by on just the fruit and pastries that will surely be available for breakfast, I'll be ready to fall asleep and/or kill someone by 10:30.
