April 12th, 2007

Oh, that's right, it's *spring* [Apr. 12th, 2007|01:09 pm]
It's spring in Colorado, and the last few days have been fairly nice and sunny, if somewhat cold.

Which means, of course, that it's time for more winter. Snow, in particular.

Heard from a colleague that the forecast is for a lot of rain this afternoon, followed by snow. The first few inches of snow will melt (yes, you heard me right), but by the end of the day tomorrow, we may well have a foot of snow on the ground.

The storm is already hitting Colorado Springs pretty hard and is moving north. Somebody said it's raining in Denver east of I-25, and while there's still plenty of overcast sun here, I can look south out my window and see the clouds starting to thicken. I'm going to try and head home early, and I think that tomorrow I'll just work from home. I was planning on attending talk on CU campus and at the Mesa Lab in the afternoon; I'll have to play it by ear.

Several of the seeds in my grassing bottle actually sprouted. I can have spring even if it's snowing.

EDIT: Same colleague showed me an animation, and it looks like we may just get grazed on the north end of town, that it may all hit south Denver & the springs. I think I'll head home if it starts precipitating.
