Control Tower

Family, Pampas, Games

My Mom & Larry spent the night with us Friday and Saturday. Larry's uncle Joke died (age 87), so they were here for the funeral. (Funeral Friday afternoon, burial Monday morning; Larry's comment: "This family can't do nothin' simple.") I had a meeting at work, so I missed the first chunk of the funeral, but according to everyone else that was a happy thing, since I gather the preacher went on and on and ON. There was a reception afterward and I got to hang out with them and my brother Dave and his girlfriend and my sister Leslie and her kids for the first time in a long while, and that was pretty nice.

Today at work the big computing system was down, and I got fuck-all done. Which I guess is okay since I was all productive yesterday and finished off prepping a bunch of data for some collaborators. It's for the Pampas region in Argentina, which is cool because I get to say "Pampas" a lot whenever we discuss the project. PAMPAS!

Board games at Floyd's on Sunday night, just me & Chris & Tom. I forget the name, but it was a worker-placement game building ancient civilizations to fight giant monsters. Fairly fun; I felt kinda stymied for much of it but did better than I thought in the end. But, even better, Saturday was Star Wars, and I got to blow up the deflector screens and ram a garbage scow into the Embassy during the big gala! I mean, I'm the GM, so I can sorta just make stuff happen whenever, but we finally got to the point that it made sense and was dramatically appropriate. Woo-hoo!
