The $6 umbrella I bought before leaving Denver is one of the best investments I've made in quite a while, because at 6:30 in the morning yesterday, it was really, really rainy. And dark.

Got to T-Stop & Jessie's, crashed on the couch until about noon, had a low-energy day but hung out with Jessie & Violet & T & Indy, and it was great. Bert & Abbe (& Katya) brought dinner (lamb & potatoes) over, which great because I got to see them without having to go anywhere, and today is sunny and much less sleep-deprived.

We're off to CBC for nuptial-celebratory beerage shortly, and 'twill be awesome. Woot!

I got sent to Boston with a peach rain PONCHO, which is fine if rain falls from the sky to the ground, but I got totally soaked in my first Nor'easter, when the rain does not obey the laws of gravity. I remember being seriously unprepared for my first year there: not only the incredible rain and wind, but the way (in the city) that six inches of slush would fall instead of snow and there was nothing short of galoshes that could keep one's feet dry.

I also saw my first icestorm in Boston, which was beautiful from the window, but I was totally unprepared for what those ice-coated trees meant for trying to walk down the street.
