Grocery Crash [Sep. 24th, 2008|11:45 pm]
Had a first at the grocery store this evening: I managed to crash the self-scanner.

The attendant was helping me, so he was scanning and I was bagging, and when we got all done, the machine locked up with a bunch of error dialogs. It got wedged so badly the manager had to power-cycle the computer (which lives in the cabinet under the scales, it turns out).

I feel like this is some kind of accomplishment, though I couldn't tell you why...

Unrelatedly, I'm listening to Duffy's Mercy ("You got me begging you for mercy, yeah, yeah, yeah") and Amy Winehouse's Rehab ("They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no") and thinking that someone really needs to mash them up.

It's just a scale. The attendants at my store will re-tare the scale if you brought your own bags, but if you want to fool it, pick something where the computer won't know how much it weighs and scan that first, then put your bags down with it and you can usually get away with it.
