Strong wind blows [Feb. 17th, 2009|11:29 pm]
Beemer
It's really windy where I work. Like, really windy.

Windy enough that it broke one of the windows on the car today.

Thanks, atmosphere. You're a jerk.

Is this just from pressure differences, or was there some debris?

Looking at yesterday's stats for the airport, gusts to 44 mph don't seem that bad, but I'm guessing you work in some sort of localized wind tunnel, with a funnelling effect from surrounding terrain.

Only having visited Banff once, I just don't get mountains. I can imagine plains, steppes, rolling countryside, great lakes, small lakes and tundra, either from seeing them or extending from local analogies. Even deserts make some sense but mountains just don't resolve beyond the theoretical for me.

Nope. Accounting program support tech. I don't even have Flight Simulator™.

Not sure, but I think there had to be debris, probably gravel. It was only gusting to 60 mph or thereabouts.

I work right up against the foothills. I'll have to see if I can find a good picture for you...

Is there a running joke at NCAR comparing various parts of the building to those of a castle and various employees as nobility? That shot makes it look like a much better castle than Macky.

I looked at the interior of the van briefly on my way to school, and didn't notice any large foreign particles. Not yet sure if something was kicked up and smashed through it.

While important, those particles are too small. よ, however, could have had enough force.

すべて私の友人である, よ、

Amazing how two different linguistic processes can lead to the same morpheme having essentially the same function in the two languages.
