Wait. Wait wait wait wait wait. Wait. What?

Christopher Eccleston is playing Destro in the live-action G.I. Joe movie?

That's... quite something, there.

I don't really know how I feel about that, but whatever it is, I'm feeling it very deeply. Bemusement, I suppose?

It's a puzzler, yes. Next we'll find out Nicole Kidman has the lead in the Candyland movie.

It's really all about the shape of his head, isn't it? By that criteria, it sounds like a pretty good choice. Better, probably, than some of the others which are weird, if more banal: Kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun (and Brick) as... Cobra Commander?! And some blond girl as The Baroness? Sure, they'll dye her hair, but you can't find the Baroness' brand of raven-haired scary-hotness in a can.

Actually, what's going on with this casting? All these actors are under 30 (Eccleston and Quaid excepted). Is this G.I. Joe or O.C. Joe? Just because J.J. Abrams is doing it to Star Trek doesn't mean you have to, Guy-Who-Made-the-Mummy-Movies.

Wow, it sounds like I care way more about this stuff than I do.

Or maybe you care way more about this stuff than you think you do.

He plays bad guys a lot. From what I can tell, Doctor Who was a big departure for him. And just like "Heroes", I'm guessing they cast him in part because of crossover demographic with U.S. sci-fi fans.
