fringe moon house [Feb. 9th, 2010|11:21 pm]
We finished S1 of Fringe this evening. The final imagery was really quite audacious. Well-done, Abrams & co!

And then we watched Moon, and I think it deserves all the praise it's gotten. I really liked what they did with GERTY, especially highlighted against the portrayal of AI in other classic SF movies.

I signed a bunch of paperwork and am paying to have a house inspected on Thursday. I believe I am now "under contract". I think.

So, assuming all goes well, I guess we're buying a house. Well, townhouse/condo. Dwelling-place. Thing. Trying to neither freak out nor get excited about it until the situation is more certain. But yeah.

(Definitely not ready to think about the whole "moving" part yet.)

Oddly, Moon was one of the few movies I saw in the theatre last year. (?) I'm a huge Sam Rockwell fan. I thought it was a very nicely constructed film and fairly good s/f with only a few fallacies (like how expensive the replacements would be... that one took a pretty huge leap of faith). But, yes, oddly redemptive of AI (these are the benevolent robots YOU want running our world. I doubt such a thing could exist.)

I do adore space angst every now and then, and this was exactly my cup of tea.

Did I mention Sam Rockwell rocks?
