In which Progress Occurs, but I am Still Not Done [Dec. 7th, 2010|11:04 pm]
Sunday night I began to suspect and yesterday I verified that, yes, indeed, I had found an actual bug in one of the functions I was using.

Today I determined that 95 plots made my poster look a little too much like a wallpaper pattern, and decided to cut it back a little.

Also, through the magic of the crock-pot, I made ham and bean soup, which is so much better with carrots and celery in it than without. (You just throw stuff in and come back later and it's food! With zero effort! MAGIC I TELL YOU!)

Hey, when you are done, can you tell me what you throw in your crock pot to make that soup? I have a crock pot, and it sounds delicious and I could use food like magic.

For the year without a stove, I used the crock pot a whole bunch. I have some good recipes, too, and am happy to share with you. My sadness is that my sister wasn't as fond of the soups and such as I am, and had gotten tired of them, and so we've not used it as much lately, to my great sorrow.

I used to love my crock pot, when I had one. My favorite think to make in it was spagetti stew.

There is a reason that the mirepoix/refogado/soffritto/sofrito (onions, carrots and celery 2:1:1) is the basis of so many soups, stews and sauces in so many European-based cultures.
