This may come as a surprise to friends and family, but it's... been coming for a while now.
I'm not sure I was ready for it to happen now (is one ever?), but it's not really a surprise that we've ended up here.
I have a lot of complex emotions about it. Mostly I'm sad. There are ways in which I'm relieved. But I'm not regretful. Going into this, we said: "It might work out, it might not. We're going to give it our best shot." And we did that. Relationships are difficult, and sometimes they end earlier than you hoped.
I'm okay. We're all okay.
(One upside: nobody's coming out of this alone. So there's that.)
Also -- please nobody feel like you need to pick sides. We're still on decent terms, and are well-equipped to share your friendship.
