Losing Contacts [Oct. 17th, 2013|11:00 am]
Last night, as I was taking my contacts out (I wear hard lenses), one of them came popping out and disappeared. No faint click as it bounced off anything -- and of course I couldn't *see* anything because I'd already taken the other one out -- it just vanished. I am always amazed at how aerodynamic and bouncy a tiny plastic disc can be.

I called out to Jerry to please come help me look, because you don't want to move around too much until you've verified that it's not right next to your foot, and eventually, right about the time when I was starting to make plans to go to the eye doctor, we found it up against the corner between the counter and the floor.

Then this morning, when I got out of the shower and went to put them in, I discovered that my entire lens case was missing, because SOMEkitty had decided in the middle of the night that it was a fun toy and absconded with it. After five or ten minutes of hunting, we finally found it downstairs under the dining room table. *sigh* Happily, they didn't actually make me late, but it was close...

I had one pop out last night at the supermarket, in front of the freezer case. Luckily, I found it, but then it's - "OK, how do I get this home without crushing or scratching it?" It all worked out, though. Whew!

Nowaways I usually have something I can use to rinse it off and pop it back in, but there have been times when I felt like the only safe way to carry it around was to stick it in my mouth...

I thought of putting it in my mouth, but the thought of indirectly licking the floor of the supermarket stopped that thought pretty quickly. ;)
