I woke up Monday with a bit of a sore throat, which I attributed to things getting dried out while I was sleeping, but then at work I started feeling achy and generally terrible. So I finished off the set of plots I was working on and came home early.|
Took some pain pills, read, sucked on zinc lozenges (ick ptui) once Monkey brought some home, and went to bed at like 9:30.
Yesterday I called in sick, planned to do a bit of working from home instead, and then managed to do absolutely nothing productive all day long. I napped, finished re-reading Bujold's Paladin of Souls and then re-read Curse of Chalion and just generally convalesced. I did manage to go to the store and then make dinner, but only because it was an easy dish and I did it in stages.
Today I am feeling much better, so I think it worked. Although I did just wake up from an annoyingly persistent dream about getting back from a trip by an unexpected route and then running around trying to figure out if I was going to have to take a trans-Atlantic flight just to return a rental car and then immediately turn around and fly back, and if so, was I going to be able to get to the airport on time, because with the time zone changes and all, did the flight already leave yesterday?
Sometimes it's a tremendous relief to wake up and realize that you don't have to come up with any kind of solution AT ALL because the problem is not actually real.
