Work emails [Oct. 30th, 2014|11:12 am]
This was in my inbox upon arriving at work today. Note that Colleague 2 is a morning person, and typically works 7-3. The rest of us are NOT morning people, and keep schedules more like 10-6.

Colleague 1: "I have to take my cat to the vet, so I'm working from home again today. And I'm taking tomorrow off, so I'll see you all on Monday."

Colleague 2: "It is dark and lonely here, and I'm going to rent out your offices to the homeless."

Colleague 3: "Um... make sure they bathe before they sit in my chair."

How nice that you guys can provide temp shelter for the homeless. I should do that with some of the open cubicles in my office.

As long as you don't abuse the privilege, "I don't feel like coming in today" is an acceptable excuse for working from home, at least within my group at work. I mean, unless there's a meeting, the bulk of what we do is solo work, so working from home even a couple days a week is no big deal.
