Two Dinners with Family [Sep. 15th, 2015|01:04 am]
Jerry's mom spent the night at our place on Friday (being in town for Jerry's niece's wedding the week previous, and before being dropped off at the airport super-early Saturday morning), and I made a new recipe for dinner that I was really happy with: African Peanut Stew.

I recommend it highly. It's a different set of flavors than we usually eat, and it was actually pretty easy to make. There are a whole lot of ingredients, but the actual cooking is all just "add this set of things, cook for a 5 minutes. Then add these other things and cook for 3 minutes." If you do all the prep the night before (as I did), it comes together pretty quickly. And it's very easy to make it dairy-free, soy-free, vegetarian, etc. Good stuff! (And a lot of it.)

Then on Sunday night, because my mom & Larry are in town looking after my niece, to visit with them and celebrate Jerry's new job, we took them out for a nice dinner at Kachina, which is a southwestern place over in the hotel across the street from the mondoplex. (It's been on my "try this sometime" list for a while.) The food was very good. The service was a little leisurely. It's a little pricey, but we had a lovely dinner.

And afterwards, Monkey and I got fro-yo. Yay! :D

mmmm... I like African Peanut Stew. There used to be a place here in San Jose that I would get it. I think it was an Ethiopean place but not 100% sure.
